Sultry sounds of great live music down by the cool river, that’s what local musicians David Atkinson and Karyn Kirkwood of the band Indigo Riff are hoping will draw people to the Sensational Jazz event taking place in Elora on Saturday, August 6th, from 1-4 pm, a fundraiser for the annual autumn Sensational Elora festival.
I would like to apologize to all the people in the grocery store last Tuesday night that witnessed the unthinkable: me in my for-home-only-short-shorts. I would especially like to extend my apologies to that nice gentleman in aisle four who didn’t know where to look when I dropped the cookies. Poor guy. I promise that it will never happen again.
I was trying to be helpful. My heart was in the right place. My intentions were good. I wanted to show my hard-working spouse, the Carpenter, some support. So I did the unthinkable: I took the bold step of entering the Carpenter’s terrain, the manly-man world of landscape beautification.
I never thought this day would come, but it arrived. Today was the day my children were cooperative, understanding and (gulp) helpful. I did not raise my voice, cast anyone off the island, nor did I threaten to exploit his or her bedroom floor disasters on You Tube or hide in the basement wondering what it would be like to smoke a cigarette. Today was the perfect day.
